Context & key figures

Why fruit at the office in 2026?

Workplace wellbeing, occupational health, employer brand: why 2,000+ companies in France have chosen to offer fruit to their teams.

Ten years after the first workplace fruit delivery offers appeared, the question is no longer ‘Is it useful?’ but ‘How do we put in place a solution that is consistent with our wellbeing and CSR policy?’. The subject is fully part of the challenges of workplace wellbeing and primary prevention — diet being one of the determinants of physical and mental wellbeing.

Studies by Malakoff Humanis, Anact and the Observatoire de la QVT consistently rank food at work among the top three to five factors of perceived wellbeing. Employees are not asking for a gourmet restaurant: they are asking for an environment that supports their healthy choices day to day, particularly around breaks, snacks and the availability of fresh fruit. A well-placed fruit basket in the cafeteria or break room is often the first ‘wellbeing gesture’ that new recruits notice.

The economics are favourable too. For a budget generally between €2 and €4 per employee per week, companies offer a visible, daily service directly linked to wellbeing. Compared with the cost of staff turnover (between 30% and 150% of an annual salary depending on the role) or that of an annual seminar, the decision is quickly made. The internal studies we carry out with our clients show that around 70% of employees spontaneously mention fruit at the office among the positive signs of engagement.

The impact on absenteeism is harder to isolate, but the direction is consistent: regular fruit consumption is associated with better micronutrient intake (vitamins, minerals, fibre), better blood sugar control and more stable energy throughout the day. Without over-promising — nobody claims that fruit alone solves absenteeism — it is a solid building block of a clear occupational health policy, which you can combine with our healthy snacks, our jars of dried fruit and our organic juice dispensers.

The regulatory context is pushing in the same direction. The European CSRD Directive, gradually applied to companies in the European Union since 2024, requires them to document material social and environmental indicators. Food at work is not always explicitly listed, but it fits within the ‘worker health and safety’ and ‘wellbeing’ policies that are now required. Having a supplier able to provide verifiable data on product origin, waste rate, type of farming and logistics chain makes life considerably easier for the teams in charge of this reporting.

Finally, and this is perhaps the most underestimated argument: the cost of an office fruit service is extremely low relative to its visible day-to-day impact. Whereas an office refurbishment costs tens of thousands of euros and produces a diffuse effect, and an annual event takes up a large budget for a one-off impact, the weekly fruit basket creates a concrete, continuous, observable presence. No employee thanks their employer for the carpet; many, however, mention the fruit, the quality coffee or the healthy snacks as signs of care.

Fruit baskets in the workplace: the balanced solution

quite simply

For a moment of togetherness
among your employees

A better-balanced diet? Play an active part in your employees’ wellbeing by offering them fruit. With fruit delivered to the office, say goodbye to vending-machine sweets that contribute to a poor diet and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. By choosing Les Plaisirs Fruités, you provide your employees with fresh fruit that is as seasonal as possible, for them to enjoy during their breaks.

Full of vitality and good spirits

Our offer covers 2 types of farming: organic fruit at the office, or fruit from integrated farming. While organic fruit is certified, fruit from integrated farming relies more on local growers, while respecting both the fruit and the consumer. To keep everyone happy, we offer both ranges.

Easy to eat!

Bananas, pears, a wide selection of apples, mandarins, peaches, apricots, cherries, mirabelle plums, grapes, persimmons: so many flavours to delight your palate. In our selections we favour local, seasonal fruit, but you will also find a few more exotic treats, also of organic origin. You can order your fruit basket directly online, and it will be delivered straight to your company. Every week, the basket is automatically replaced by our delivery drivers. The subscription comes with no commitment and you can pause it at any time. But we bet that you and your employees will soon simply be unable to do without this treat! You can also switch plans as often as you like and adjust the contents of your baskets. Our customer service team is on hand to advise you if you are unsure how much to order or which plan to choose.

Fresh fruit and varied pleasures all year round

Fruit is all too often overlooked. Yet it is essential for anyone who wants to eat healthily. Our fruit baskets give your employees the right dose of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and fibre. The sugar in fruit is more easily absorbed than the sugar added to tea or coffee. It contributes to energy production in the body. So there is nothing like a fruity break to recover your energy and creativity. Even more than fruit juice, whole fruit is excellent for your health. So, fruit at the office, an odd idea? Not at all! More and more companies are asking us for regular fruit basket deliveries. Employees simply love it, and some admit they can no longer do without their fruit at the office. Need a fruit basket in Brussels? Order on our website and enjoy a fruity treat.

From field to office

The grower → office chain

From selected growers in France to the drop-off point in your offices — here is what concretely happens in between.

1. Selection

40+ partner growers in France, certified HVE, Vergers Éco-responsables or Ecocert FR-BIO-01. No unnecessary middlemen.

2. Collection

Short supply chain: fruit picked when ripe, transported in reusable crates.

3. Assembly

Sorted and assembled by hand every week, per basket and per order.

4. Delivery to your office

At reception or with the office manager — the empty basket is replaced with the new one. Zero handling for you.

The heart of the Les Plaisirs Fruités model is the supply chain. We work with more than 40 partner growers in France, selected for their ability to meet demanding specifications: picking at ripeness, no unnecessary middlemen, official certifications. For the organic range, only the Ecocert FR-BIO-01 label is accepted. For selected farming, we favour growers holding the High Environmental Value (HVE) certification or the Vergers Éco-responsables label, two recognised schemes that strictly govern the use of inputs and biodiversity on the plot.

The baskets are assembled by hand every week. We do not prepare standard boxes in advance to ship later: each basket is put together for its destination, according to the season, the mix of fruit available and the contents chosen fruit by fruit by the client from their online account. This more labour-intensive process keeps food waste extremely low — under 2% over the year — whereas mass retail runs at between 5% and 10% according to Ademe studies.

As for delivery, the driver collects the previous week’s basket (reusable, with a deposit) and drops off the new one. No disposable cardboard packaging, no complicated handling — the whole thing takes two minutes on site. It is this process, repeated thousands of times a week, that means our 2,000+ clients never again have to ask themselves ‘who is taking care of the fruit?’.

Offering fruit at the office is only a consistent CSR gesture if the whole chain follows suit. French origin, organic certification for the relevant range, the choice of HVE or Vergers Éco-responsables farming for the selected range, returnable packaging, use of unsold produce: each of these building blocks can be verified and documented for your internal reporting (CSRD, carbon footprint, workplace wellbeing reporting).

Our indicators evolve year after year, transparently. We believe the right level of reporting for a service like ours should enable our clients to include the information directly in their own deliverables, without having to reprocess the data. For details of our commitments and partnerships, see the Our commitments and values page, or the A basket for every season page to understand our approach to seasonality.

To put this in perspective: a basket of seasonal fruit delivered via a short supply chain generates a significantly smaller carbon footprint than an equivalent solution through conventional distribution, where the fruit passes through a central purchasing body, a regional warehouse and then a shop. Direct delivery to the office removes several intermediate links.

On the social side, we train our team in-house and work mainly with stable contracts. The wages and working conditions of our pickers and drivers are aligned with the sector’s collective agreements, and we do not use self-employed courier platforms for last-mile delivery. This internal stability shows in the quality of service: the same drivers come back week after week, know the reception staff and anticipate access constraints. It is an operational detail, but it often makes the difference over time.

Our CSR approach is documented in detail on the Our commitments and values page, and our Ecocert FR-BIO-01 certification as well as the documents of our partner growers (HVE, Vergers Éco-responsables) are available on request by calling +33 1 87 16 47 50. We are happy to share copies of certificates and the aggregated data you need for your own CSR deliverables — this is one of the reasons why several procurement departments in France have listed us as a supplier.

Practical guide

Setting up fruit at the office in 6 steps

The method we recommend to our 2,000+ clients to get started smoothly and get the sizing right.

  1. 1

    Needs assessment

How many employees are on site on average? What seasonal variations (holidays, remote working)? What preferences (organic, gluten-free, vegan)? A quick round of the team — 3 to 5 minutes in a meeting — is enough to gauge real demand.

  2. 2

    Choosing the basket size

Our rule of thumb: 2 pieces of fruit per employee per week for regular consumption. For 30 people, allow for a 4 to 6 kg basket. For 50 people, 8 to 10 kg. For 100+, several additional baskets or a large-volume format.

  3. 3

    Choosing the frequency

Weekly in 95% of cases, as it is the best balance between freshness and logistical simplicity. For small, mostly on-site teams, delivery every two weeks is possible — but delicate fruit (strawberries, raspberries) loses quality.

  4. 4

    Setting the budget per employee

Typical range: €2 to €4 excl. VAT per employee per week for a mix of baskets + snacks. Below €2, uptake remains symbolic. Above €4, it is a strong statement for the employer brand.

  5. 5

    2-week pilot

Start with a format slightly smaller than your estimate, for 2 weeks. Observe: is there too much left over? Too little? Which varieties go first? This feedback is decisive for the final version.

  6. 6

    Iteration & routine

Adjust format, varieties and frequency. Appoint someone to be responsible for restocking (5 minutes a week). Communicate internally about every new addition. After a month, the routine is in place.

Getting-started checklist

  • Space identified (cafeteria, coffee corner, dedicated shelf)
  • Average headcount and dietary preferences listed
  • Format and frequency chosen together
  • Restocking contact person appointed
  • Internal communication ready (Slack message / poster)
  • Feedback check-in scheduled after 30 days
